The Resurgence of Clinical Microcurrent in the Modern Office
By Dr. Joseph Ventura
New Studies Continue to Validate Its Power and Effectiveness
The use of Microcurrent stimulation in a doctor’s or therapist’s office was huge in the 80’s, peaked in the
mid-90’s, and by 2000 virtually ended. Why? Did human physiology change to somehow render
Microcurrent ineffective? How did something so effective (Olympic athletes like Carl Lewis purchased
their own units) drop off the face of the Earth? The answer is startlingly simple.
Clinical Microcurrent was developed and driven by U.S. companies starting around 1980. These units
followed a narrow set of electrical parameters, established by Dr. Thomas Wing. Three major companies
produced the advertising, marketing and training that drove the industry. By 1984 Microcurrent was an
official tool of the Olympic medical staff. Ten years later two things happened to slow down growth. First,
two of the major companies experienced major changes. Monad saw the retirement of Dr. Thomas Wing
and VME Inc. sold the manufacturing rights of its unit to another company. The two major driving forces in
clinical Microcurrent were now out of the picture. At the same time this was happening, the market was
flooded with inexpensive imitation devices from overseas. These devices did not use the Wing
parameters and did not work like the clinical units. But because they were labeled as Microcurrent,
customers thought they were using the real thing but didn’t get real results. Microcurrent began its long,
slow descent into irrelevancy.
Fortunately, researchers never stopped researching the wonderful properties of clinical Microcurrent.
Within the last three years at least seventeen peer-reviewed studies re-confirm the power of this sub-
sensory stimulation. Add these seventeen to the two hundred thirty three studies already published in the
past 25 years and you have overwhelming evidence to the effectiveness of Microcurrent. Using what
Becker called the “Current of Healing”, clinical Microcurrent has been shown over the past 35 years to be
effective for pain control, enhanced soft tissue repair, advanced muscle work and as an alternative to
acupuncture needle insertion. And, it’s reimbursable.
There is still a clinical Microcurrent device in production that follows the Wing parameters. We are proud
to offer this unit, the AXION micro5, and expert training at a reasonable investment. Our training covers
all the major aspects of Microcurrent, including its use in electro-acupuncture programs such as weight
loss and smoking cessation, its use in cosmetic facial rejuvenation, fibromyalgia, stress reduction,
enhanced healing of soft tissue injuries and treating 70 of the most common musculo-skeletal conditions.
Training also includes access to our online video library of advanced techniques. We also offer complete
marketing systems and a series of clinical wall charts. No other company offers this type of after-sales
training and support, bundled into one low price.
With almost 35 years in the clinical Microcurrent business we are well positioned to handle all your
equipment and training needs. Visit www.GTOmicro.com for all the details.
